OECD Health Statistics

This interactive OECD Health database is part of the OECD iLibrary, the OECD's statistics portal.

It contains data on a range of key aspects of the health care system in the 30 OECD member countries. The data themselves comprise 1200 different series, span the period 1960-2008, with selected longtime series from 1960 onwards. Most data cover the 1980s and 1990s, many of which continue up to 2007/08.  Topics covered include: health status; health care resources; long-term care resources and utilisation; expenditure on health; non-medical determinants of health; demographic and economic references.

Key tables include data on health expenditure, practising physicians, hospital beds, life expectancy, infant mortality, suicides, cancer, tobacco consumption, and overweight or obesity.

In addition to viewing the data as tables, charts and maps, there are also user-defined tables, links to health data on the internet in addition to a mechanism whereby series can be updated from the OECD Health Data website.
