The data was derieved from a household panel survey conducted over three annual waves. The main focus of the research was to gather household and individual information and examine information and communications technology (ICT) access and behaviour.

Most of the non-ICT questions were derived from the British Household Panel Study (BHPS), and covered topics such as housing, social life, leisure activities, computer use, employment, telephone use, internet use and demographic characteristics. Respondents also completed a time budget diary covering one week.
