EDGAR Database

The SEC requires all US-based public companies (except companies with less than $10 million in assets & 500 shareholders) to file registration statements, annual/quarterly reports, prospectuses and other forms electronically via EDGAR (the Electronic Data Gathering, Analysis, and Retrieval system). Real-time and historic information (from 1993) can be freely downloaded as ASCII text or in HTML format by searching on Company Name, Standard Industrial Classification code (SIC) or SEC's Central Index Key (CIK).
